Little Girl with Daisies: Free Vintage Photo

Here's a pretty little summertime beauty, crowned with daisy flowers.  I should do more of these Victorian children's photographs and postcards, as they are so popular.  Most of what I have scanned are little girls, but I have a box full of postcards of men and boys that I need to work on.

Crescent Moon

I recently discovered NASA images!  These are OK to use, and I particularly like the ones of the moon.

Here is a waxing crescent moon photograph for you to enjoy.

Victorian Marriage Couple: Free Vintage Image

This is from a series of cards showing a couple at different stages in their relationship.  This one is "The Young Housekeepers A Year After Marriage."  Cute!  Nice details and colors in this high quality image.

Frame: Classical

Another frame, this one more elaborate and unusual.  This one I adapted from an antique print of a well in Verona, Italy, with classical Roman style columns and carvings.  It took some doing but I think it makes a nice fancy frame to use for a journaling spot in scrapbooking, altered art projects, cards, even menus or invitations.  Something different to spark your imagination, I hope!

Elegant Victorian Frame -- Scrapbooking, Invitation, Menu, Tags

I had a request for frames, so here is a lovely one with a simple elegance.  This is originally a full letter-size frame, but it can be resized as needed.  I adapted it from a sheet of music.  It would be nice for cards and altered art, tags, invitations, menus, scrapbook pages, lots of projects. Have fun!

Latin Text Book Page: Great Background Image!

I love antique book pages, and this one is very old with Latin text.  I can't tell you what it says, but it seems to be a scientific or metaphysical text, I think.
This would make a great background image for cards or altered art or even jewelry.  I love using any kind of printed page for that.  I am fascinating by words and language and also the fonts themselves.  Notice the beautiful decorative capitol letter M.
I hope you enjoy this free vintage image, which can be saved, printed, resized, etc., as needed.  Follow me and visit again!

Victorian painting mother and child eating cherries

I've always particularly liked this Victorian painting of mother and daughter by Leighton.  The pose, the soft colors, the intimacy, even the folds of fabric are so lovely.  I could have saved it for Mother's Day, but what made me think of it today was ripe cherries in the grocery store!  There are also lilies in my yard (like in the picture except mine are yellow), so all in all it's a summer image to me.

Regency Style Orange Walking Dress

I couldn't resist cleaning up and sharing one more Regency era fashion illustration.  This one shows a "walking dress" from 1811.  I guess ladies had special dresses for walks?  Maybe for walking about town?  It certainly is fabulous.  I love the matching little handbag and the head-dress, don't you?

Regency Fashions - Free Vintage Images

These are very antique -- two fashion illustrations from 1813, which is during what is called the Regency era.  The first, with the fabulous blue cape, is a "morning dress."  The second is a gorgeous ball gown fashionable for the period.  It seems to be adorned with pearls and other "bling."

I've always thought the dresses of this period looked much more comfortable than the later Victorian styles!  I would actually wear either of these (somewhere).  These would have been fashionable right around the time Jane Austen was publishing her novels.

These are drawings with watercolor, and the originals are a little "soft" in detail.

Statue of Liberty Sheet Vintage Image

This seemed appropriate for the date!  This antique sheet music cover featuring Lady Liberty and nice vintage red white and blue colors took some restoration, and I hope you'll enjoy the end result.  Happy Fourth to everyone in the States!

Free Vintage Ephemera: Postcard with Quill Pen Arrow

Here is another vintage postcard back with an unusual design -- this one a quill pen design through the word Postcard.  At first I thought it was an arrow, but a quill makes perfect sense for a postal card.  I've cleaned it up and removed some elements to make the design stand out.  Enjoy!

Orange Marmalade Free Vintage Ad Label

I'm crazy about this old advertisement for orange marmalade.  Love the colors, love the bowl of fruit, love the flowers and leaves!  Looking at the orange peels I can almost smell fresh oranges.  I guess that's how they were trying to sell the marmalade!  Anyway, a nice summertime image.
